GREY IS SHINY.

More than the new hot trend, the over 60s are driving profound economic and environmental change. Yet through fieldwork we have demonstrated the sheer absurdity of chasing the shiny bright young things, when infact the real value is in the grey pound.

Appearing at Sheffield Doc Fest, The Mix commissioned two sets of  filmmakers to create documentary shorts, revealing the real lived experiences and unexpected journeys of an age group often side-lined and written off.

JOY UNCENSORED.

'Joy Uncensored’ follows multi-award-winning slam poet and writer, 64-year-old Joy France, enter the ruthless, male-dominated world of battle rap in an exploration of creativity that breaks age and gender stereotypes.

GOLDEN GIRLS.

Golden Girls follows three single women in their early 70s who moved in together into a shared house to combat the loneliness and worries associated with ageing and living alone. Through a day in the life of the house, the film explores companionship and fulfilment in old age.

PREMIERE

Both 'Golden Girls' and 'Joy Uncensored' (previously 'Just Joy') premiered in a theatre in Covent Garden, London at an event hosted by The Mix. Featuring screenings, a live slam-poetry performance and Q&A's wih both filmmakers and casts.
